Health and Safety
Your child’s health is important to all of us. Upon enrollment, DEEC licensing requires each child to have a physical exam and health record signed and dated by his/her physician each year including DPT, Polio, MMR, HIB vaccine, Hepatitis B vaccine, Chicken Pox (Varicella) vaccine, Tine test, and a yearly lead screening. An updated health record must be submitted before expiration date. *If your family’s religious beliefs do not allow your child to receive immunization shots, please attach a note to that effect with your application. We request that the person who brings your child to school share any important information about a child’s physical condition that may affect his/her day at school.
If your child has symptoms of illness during the day that may be contagious, i.e., conjunctivitis (pink eye), chicken pox, undetermined rash, fever, upset stomach, diarrhea, etc., we will call you or the person on the emergency card to pick up your child as soon as possible. We will isolate the sick child in a secluded area where there are no other children, and the child will be supervised by a staff person until a caregiver who is on the Consent and Authorization Form arrives.
Parents will be notified of any changes in their child's behavior, eating, or toileting habits.
If your child is hurt at Carousel, an injury report is filled out. Parents or caregivers that we release the child to will sign the original form and a copy is returned to the office for their file. In case of a serious accident and an injury occurs, we will make an immediate attempt to contact a parent. If we are unsuccessful, we will call your child's physician. If it is necessary, we will also call an ambulance and/or the police. Until the parents, doctor, ambulance, or police arrive, the director and teachers are trained in First Aid and CPR. You will be expected to assume responsibility for any resultant expense not covered by our insurance.
